Kansas City, Mo. – Cooler air is sliding into Missouri this week, bringing welcome relief from recent summer heat along with chances for light rain through midweek. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the 50s across much of the state, while daytime highs will hold in the 70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, rain showers are most likely along the Missouri-Kansas state line Monday into Tuesday, with the greatest rainfall potential over central Kansas. By late in the week, those showers are expected to spread eastward into central Missouri, though rainfall totals will remain on the lighter side.

Kansas City could see temperatures as low as 57 degrees by early Monday morning, a significant drop from recent nights in the upper 70s. St. Joseph, Chillicothe, and Butler will also share in the cooler start, with highs staying in the mid-70s through Tuesday. The cooler pattern should ease energy demand and bring more comfortable conditions for evening outdoor activities.

Drivers should watch for brief downpours during Monday’s commute, particularly along I-70 and routes crossing into eastern Kansas. The Weather Service advises planning ahead for slower travel during any scattered rain.

Showers and cooler conditions will persist through Wednesday, with the next round of updates expected early in the week.
