Kansas City, MO – Wildfire smoke from Canada will blanket Kansas City and much of western Missouri through Sunday, leaving the sky with a milky haze and potentially impacting air quality for sensitive groups. According to the National Weather Service, cooler and less humid air will hold across the region through Monday, providing a break from the recent summer heat.

Residents may notice a distinct haze, especially during outdoor activities, as smoke lingers in the atmosphere. While most rainfall is expected to stay west of the metro area, a stray shower or two can’t be ruled out for eastern Kansas and western Missouri by late Sunday or Monday. Most locations will remain dry, but those with asthma or other respiratory concerns should limit prolonged outdoor exposure while air quality is reduced.

Temperatures will stay unseasonably mild through early week, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s before summer heat returns. By Wednesday, only a low chance of showers remains in the forecast, and temperatures are set to climb back to near 90 by late week.

Smoky skies and cooler air continue through Monday, with updates likely if air quality concerns persist.
