Kansas City, Missouri – Smoky skies and cooler-than-average temperatures will settle over Missouri through the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s and only a slight chance for rain by Sunday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, smoke from wildfires elsewhere will drift across the state, creating a hazy or “milky” sky—especially on Friday and Saturday. Air quality could dip enough to affect sensitive groups, especially where smoke remains trapped near the surface.
Despite the haze, weather conditions remain pleasant. Afternoon highs will hover around 79°F Friday and Saturday, with comfortable humidity and overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Most of Missouri will stay dry, though a few showers may push into western parts of the state late Sunday as a weak system approaches from Kansas.
Travel and outdoor activities should go largely uninterrupted, but those with respiratory issues may want to limit time outside. Look for warmer and more humid weather to return early next week, with highs climbing into the 80s and 90s by midweek.
Warnings remain limited, but updates may follow if air quality worsens.
