According to the National Weather Service, the rain will continue into Saturday morning, with the highest chances of rainfall south of I-70. A brief period of mixed precipitation is expected early Sunday morning as temperatures dip toward freezing, potentially leading to light snow accumulation on grassy surfaces. By Sunday afternoon, the precipitation will exit the area.
Residents are advised to protect sensitive vegetation, as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing from Sunday through Tuesday. Wind gusts will also accompany the rain, making the cold feel even more intense.
Kansas City’s forecasted high on Friday will be 53°F, with lows dipping to 45°F overnight. By Sunday, the high will reach 44°F, and the low will fall to 32°F, with a slight chance of snow. The mixed precipitation is expected to begin early Sunday and move out by mid-day.
