Kansas City, MO – After a stretch of mild fall weather, the Kansas City region will see a dramatic temperature drop this weekend as the coldest air of the season moves in behind a strong cold front.

According to the US National Weather Service Kansas City, Saturday will start mild with highs in the mid to upper 60s, but a sharp cold front will sweep through the area by afternoon, bringing showers that may briefly mix with flurries or snow showers Saturday night. While little to no accumulation is expected, temperatures will tumble quickly behind the front.

By Sunday morning, lows will dip into the mid-20s, with highs struggling to reach the low 40s. Even colder air is expected early Monday, with morning lows in the upper teens to low 20s and wind chills in the teens both Sunday and Monday mornings.

The weather service warns residents to prepare for a quick return to winter-like conditions, including gusty winds and frosty mornings that could impact early travel and outdoor plans. Temperatures are forecast to rebound to near-normal levels by midweek.
