Kansas City, Missouri – Summer heat is building again across the Kansas City metro, with highs climbing into the upper 80s by Tuesday and peaking near 91° by midweek. The warmup, paired with increasing humidity, will stretch across the region through at least Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Sunday’s high will reach near 78° under partly sunny skies, but the heat returns fast. Monday and Tuesday will bring full sun with highs in the low to mid-80s, while Wednesday pushes close to 90° and Thursday likely tops out at 91°. Winds remain light, generally out of the east at 5 to 6 mph.

While the skies will stay mostly clear each night, temperatures will remain elevated, with lows staying in the 60s and even rising to the mid-70s by Wednesday night. The dry spell continues, with no measurable rain in sight this week. That means elevated UV levels and growing concern for heat stress during outdoor activities.

Residents should hydrate, limit midday outdoor work, and check on vulnerable neighbors, especially midweek. Air conditioning use is expected to rise across Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties as the heatwave strengthens.

Warmer-than-average temperatures are expected to continue into next weekend.
