Kansas City, MO – A stretch of very warm weather continues today and will persist through Saturday as temperatures climb 15 to 20 degrees above normal for mid-November, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Kansas City.
According to NWS forecasters, highs today will reach the upper 60s to low 70s across the metro and surrounding communities, including Leavenworth, Lee’s Summit, Olathe, and Overland Park. The warm pattern holds Friday and Saturday, with highs expected to push into the low to mid-70s before cooler air returns late in the weekend.
A developing area of low-level moisture may lead to patchy dense fog west of I-35 late tonight into Friday morning, especially in rural areas and low-lying terrain. Drivers should be prepared for visibility reductions during the early commute.
Saturday brings an elevated fire danger as the combination of above-normal temperatures, dry conditions, and gusty winds develops during the afternoon. While no official fire weather warnings have been issued as of this morning, NWS encourages residents to avoid outdoor burning and secure any sources of sparks.
The next chance of precipitation does not arrive until Monday, when a system brings falling temperatures and scattered showers. Highs will drop back into the 50s and 40s early next week, ending the unusually warm stretch.
Temperature forecasts show consistent warmth through Saturday across the region, with Kansas City projected to hit 71 today, 74 Friday, and 72 Saturday before cooling sharply Sunday and Monday.
Residents across Kansas City, St. Joseph, Sedalia, Maryville, and Chillicothe can expect quiet weather aside from fog and fire concerns.
