Kansas City, Mo. – Light rain will linger across much of Missouri through Tuesday as a slow-moving low pressure system drifts east, keeping skies gray and temperatures mild. Roads west of Highway 65, including areas near Kansas City, Warrensburg, and Sedalia, will be most prone to showers, though drizzle could persist elsewhere into Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, scattered showers and isolated storms remain possible through Tuesday afternoon, with a stronger round of thunderstorms developing Wednesday evening. Severe weather is not expected, but heavier downpours could briefly reduce visibility along I-70 and surrounding highways.
By Thursday, a sharp cold front will sweep across the state, dropping morning lows into the 40s in northern and central Missouri. This quick taste of fall could mean jacket weather for early commuters in Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Columbia.
Travelers are advised to allow extra time on wet roads and keep an umbrella handy for spotty showers. Warmer conditions will briefly return Wednesday before temperatures fall sharply to end the week. Additional advisories are possible as the front moves in.
