Kansas City, MO – A Freeze Watch remains in effect for much of northern and central Missouri and parts of eastern Kansas, with sub-freezing temperatures expected late Saturday night through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill.
The watch includes major areas such as Kansas City, St. Joseph, Chillicothe, Kirksville, and Marshall, as well as eastern Kansas counties like Leavenworth, Johnson, and Linn. Overnight lows could fall between 26 and 28 degrees, bringing the first hard freeze of the season to many parts of the region.
Forecasters warn that the freeze could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, especially in rural and low-lying areas. Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants, disconnect hoses, and insulate exposed pipes before Saturday night.
This marks a significant shift toward colder weather as November begins. Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly Sunday afternoon, but additional frost and freeze conditions may return early next week.
