Kansas City, MO – Drivers across northern Missouri should brace for hazardous road conditions through Saturday night as a winter storm brings snow, ice, and rapidly falling temperatures to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, a winter storm warning remains in effect for far northwestern into northeastern Missouri, where snowfall totals of 5 inches or more are expected. A winter weather advisory extends across north-central Missouri, with minor ice accumulation and 1 to 3 inches of snow likely. The advisory and warning are active from midnight Friday through midnight Saturday.

Kansas City and much of western Missouri will see mainly rain, with light snow possible Saturday afternoon as cold air pushes in. Roads could become slick during the evening commute. Areas like Kirksville and Bethany are expected to see the heaviest snowfall, while cities including Maryville and Chillicothe could encounter both snow and freezing drizzle.

Monday brings a second wave of wintry weather. While confidence remains moderate, early signs suggest another round of snow across much of Missouri, with potential impacts to both morning and evening travel. Accumulations are expected to stay under 2 inches.

Residents should monitor updates, limit unnecessary travel, and prep vehicles and homes for wintry conditions through the weekend.
