Kansas City, MO – Residents across Missouri should prepare for shifting weather patterns this week, with above-normal heat early on and increasing chances of storms by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, highs Monday will reach the low to mid-90s, with Tuesday temperatures slightly cooler in the upper 80s to lower 90s. By Wednesday, highs will range from the low 80s to low 90s as rain chances grow stronger.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday and Tuesday, but forecasters say the best chance for widespread rainfall arrives Wednesday through the weekend. Rainfall probabilities climb as high as 60 to 65 percent in cities including St. Joseph, Maryville, and Leavenworth beginning Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday and Friday.
The weather shift will also bring cooler conditions. Temperatures are expected to ease by Thursday as cloud cover and rain help break the early-week heat.
Drivers and commuters should watch for wet road conditions, particularly late Wednesday into Friday, when storms may be more widespread. Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts throughout the week.
