Kansas City, MO – Residents across northern and central Missouri should prepare for chilly temperatures and early morning frost Thursday as clear skies and calm winds set the stage for overnight cooling. The National Weather Service in Kansas City says lows will drop into the low to mid-30s across northern Missouri, with upper 30s to lower 40s farther south and west into Kansas.
Frost formation is expected mainly north of a line from St. Joseph to Moberly, where temperatures are forecast to dip near freezing by sunrise. Gardeners and homeowners are advised to cover or bring in tender plants to prevent frost damage.
Daytime highs Wednesday will stay seasonal in the mid-60s to low-70s, but a colder air mass settling overnight will lead to a frosty start Thursday morning.
According to forecasters, rain chances will return late Thursday night into Friday, followed by unsettled weather lingering through the weekend as another system approaches from the west.
