KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A stretch of unseasonably warm fall weather continues across western Missouri this weekend, with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s and gusty south winds around 30 mph raising minor fire concerns. The National Weather Service in Kansas City said Saturday and Sunday will stay mostly dry, but the combination of warm temperatures, dry vegetation, and limited rainfall may slightly elevate wildfire risk, particularly in rural and agricultural areas.
According to the National Weather Service Kansas City office, showers and thunderstorms will develop late Sunday night and persist into Monday, mainly across far northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Severe weather is not expected, but locally heavy rain and lightning could slow the Monday morning commute on highways including I-70 and I-35.
By Tuesday, lingering showers should taper off as cooler air filters into the region, bringing temperatures back to more typical early-October levels. Wednesday looks pleasant and milder, with afternoon highs in the 70s. The agency advises residents to secure outdoor items this weekend due to gusty winds and to delay burning if possible until after Monday’s rainfall.
