Kansas City, MO – Summer heat will surge back into Kansas City starting Thursday, with highs climbing to 88°F under sunny skies and light southeast winds. Warm, humid conditions will build into the weekend, setting up a stretch of highs in the 90s that could push heat index values toward the triple digits by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s warm-up marks the start of a multi-day heat period for much of western Missouri. Friday will bring highs near 93°F, with lighter winds offering little relief. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-to-upper 70s, keeping homes and outdoor spaces warm even after sunset.

Outdoor workers, athletes, and eventgoers should plan for hydration breaks and shade access, especially in the afternoon hours. Those attending evening activities can expect mild, mostly clear conditions but little overnight cooling.

The heat trend is expected to continue through early next week, with Sunday and Monday both forecast to hit the mid-90s. A slight chance for storms could bring relief by Tuesday.
