Missouri – Clouds are already thickening over Kansas City, and the air feels unsettled as multiple rounds of storms begin lining up through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) is in place through Sunday and again Monday. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size.
Through the afternoon and into evening, scattered storms may develop across the metro, including along I-35, I-70, and I-435. Most activity remains brief, but any stronger cell could quickly intensify. Expect sudden downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Plan extra time if traveling and avoid flooded low spots.
By Sunday into Monday, storm coverage becomes more consistent. Rain chances increase, especially late in the day Monday into the overnight hours. Conditions may deteriorate quickly after sunset with additional thunderstorm development.
Meteorologists now tracking this pattern say multiple waves of moisture will move through the region. That keeps daily storm chances in place through at least Wednesday. While flooding risk remains low overall, repeated rainfall could lead to localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.
Temperatures stay mild through the unsettled stretch, generally in the 60s and 70s, adding to the spring-like feel despite the storm threat.
