Kansas City, MO – A cold front moving southeast across the region today will trigger a line of scattered thunderstorms, some of which could become strong with gusty winds and small hail, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.
Storm chances increase by late Friday afternoon, with the highest risk between 4 p.m. and midnight. The storms are expected to remain isolated to scattered, with wind gusts possibly reaching 50 to 60 mph and hail near one inch in diameter. The severe threat should diminish overnight, though a few showers may linger into Saturday morning.
Temperatures will remain above normal through Saturday, reaching the mid-80s Friday and upper 70s Saturday, before cooling into the mid-60s Sunday. The NWS says seasonal conditions will continue into next week.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and stay alert for weather warnings as storms approach during the evening commute hours.
