Kansas City, MO – A strong cold front will bring powerful winds and a sharp temperature drop across Missouri early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.
Forecasters report northwest wind gusts between 35 and 50 mph, especially across northern Missouri, north of Highway 36, including Maryville, Kirksville, and Chillicothe. Winds will begin to strengthen late Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday morning before gradually easing later in the day.
The southwest winds today, gusting 25–30 mph, will push temperatures well above normal before the front’s arrival. Behind it, conditions will turn sharply cooler with blustery northwest winds and a slight chance of light snow flurries on Wednesday and Thursday, though no accumulation is expected.
Travel may be challenging for high-profile vehicles, especially on north-south roadways, and loose outdoor items should be secured ahead of the strongest gusts.
