Kansas City, MO – Residents across western and central Missouri can expect a damp weekend as a slow-moving low-pressure system brings scattered rain showers through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

Forecasters say showers will be most frequent south and west of a line from St. Joseph to Sedalia, where rainfall totals could exceed half an inch by Sunday evening. The system will produce periodic rain throughout the weekend, with higher probabilities of precipitation on Saturday, particularly in areas south of I-70.

Rain chances in Kansas City hover around 40–60% through Sunday, while Sedalia and Chillicothe may see slightly higher rainfall potential. Although widespread flooding is not expected, the NWS advises motorists to use caution on slick roads and remain alert for brief heavier showers.

Temperatures will remain mild through the weekend, with highs in the 60s to low 70s and cooler nights in the 50s. Drier weather is anticipated to return early next week as the low pressure moves eastward.
