The National Weather Service warns drivers to watch for reduced visibility this morning due to patchy dense fog, especially near major roads such as I-70 and I-435. Rain is expected to begin this afternoon and expand overnight, bringing a wet commute for evening travelers.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall is likely to intensify after 3 p.m. today, with temperatures reaching a high of 51 degrees. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 35 degrees, bringing a chance for light snow north of Kansas City after midnight. Little to no accumulation is expected, but roads may become slick in northern areas. Winds are also expected to increase, with gusts up to 24 mph during the night.

Looking ahead, Tuesday’s forecast remains mostly cloudy with a high near 37 degrees, offering dry conditions for New Year’s Eve festivities. New Year’s Day will see sunshine and cooler temperatures, with a high near 37 degrees. Later in the week, temperatures will continue to drop, with overnight lows reaching the teens by Thursday night.
