Kansas City, Missouri – Snow and dangerously cold wind chills are expected to impact the Kansas City region and much of northern Missouri from early Saturday through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill office, snowfall is forecast to begin early Saturday and continue into Sunday morning. Total accumulations are expected to range from 4 to 10 inches, with lower totals north and higher amounts possible farther south across the region.
Forecast graphics show the heaviest snowfall potential extending across portions of central and western Missouri, while northern Missouri may see lighter but still impactful accumulations. Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility are expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly during periods of steady snowfall.
In addition to snow, forecasters warn of dangerously cold wind chills developing this weekend. Wind chill values are expected to drop well below zero, especially across northern Missouri, increasing the risk of frostbite with prolonged exposure.
The National Weather Service also notes that below-normal temperatures are likely to persist into the upcoming week, prolonging cold-related impacts even after snowfall ends.
Drivers are urged to use caution, allow extra travel time, and carry winter safety supplies if travel is unavoidable. Residents are advised to limit time outdoors during periods of extreme cold and to dress in layers to protect exposed skin.
Additional updates are expected as the storm evolves and snowfall totals become more refined.
