Wichita, KS – Kansas residents should prepare for a mix of isolated thunderstorms and high temperatures as the week progresses. According to the US National Weather Service Wichita, isolated storm chances are forecast from late Wednesday night through the beginning of the weekend. These storms are expected to bring potential hazards, including nickel-sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

The most significant storm chances are anticipated on Wednesday night and Thursday, with the central region of Kansas likely to experience the brunt of the weather. Residents in cities such as Topeka and Emporia face the highest probability, with storm chances at 59% and 50%, respectively.

According to the National Weather Service, a couple of strong to marginally severe storms may develop, capable of producing nickel-sized hail and wind gusts of 50-60 mph. Temperatures are forecast to remain near average for the first part of the week, with highs ranging from 89-97°F on Wednesday. However, the heat will intensify by Friday, with temperatures soaring to between 96-104°F and heat indices exceeding 105°F accompanied by scattered thunderstorms.
