Kansas and Oklahoma residents are facing heightened tornado risks as a Tornado Watch has been issued for several counties in both states. The watch is in effect until 12:00 AM CDT, according to the National Weather Service.

In Kansas, counties such as Chautauqua, Cowley, Elk, Harper, Montgomery, and Sumner are under the watch, while Oklahoma counties affected include Alfalfa, Blaine, Caddo, and others spread across the central and western parts of the state. The watch was declared at 5:00 PM CDT today as severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes move through the region.

The National Weather Service cautioned that residents should stay alert to rapidly changing weather conditions, as tornadoes can develop quickly. The watch area is expected to see heavy rainfall, hail, and damaging winds, along with the potential for tornado formation.

Local authorities advise keeping weather alerts on, securing outdoor objects, and having an emergency plan ready in case of a tornado warning. The storm’s impact is expected to subside by midnight, but residents should remain prepared for any potential hazards through the evening.
