Wichita, KS – Kansas is set to endure another day of oppressive heat, with triple-digit heat indices forecasted for south-central and eastern regions. The National Weather Service in Wichita warns that temperatures will soar across the state, reaching hazardous levels.
According to the National Weather Service, areas like Harper and Coffeyville could experience heat indices as high as 108°F and 111°F, respectively. Wichita is expected to see temperatures around 105°F, with similarly scorching conditions predicted for cities such as Hutchinson (103°F), Emporia (101°F), and Joplin (110°F). This extreme heat poses significant risks to health and safety.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated. The forecast for Wichita indicates that today’s temperatures will peak at 97°F, with similar highs projected for Friday and Sunday. Slight relief is expected on Saturday with a high of 95°F, but the heat will intensify again on Monday, reaching 100°F.
