Kankakee Tree Lighting Celebration Set for Dec. 2 at Bird Park

Kankakee, IL – The holiday season kicks off in Kankakee next month as the Kankakee Valley Park District (KVPD) hosts its annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Tuesday, December 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bird Park, located at 893 W. Station Street.

The free, family-friendly event will feature a range of festive activities, including cookie decorating at Claus’ Cookie Corner, face painting, story time with Elsa, and games in the Reindeer Zone. Attendees can also enjoy cheerful live music from The RCP Trio and sing along with carolers before the official lighting of the KVPD Christmas tree.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance to greet children and take photos as the community gathers to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Warm beverages and plenty of holiday cheer will be available throughout the evening.

Sponsored by Berkot’s Super Foods, the event invites residents to bundle up, sip cocoa, and share in the joy of the season.
