Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee Salvation Army is asking for community support to help stock up for its annual Thanksgiving Lunch, which provides meals to local families in need. Donations of food and ingredients are needed by November 14, 2025, to ensure all items can be prepared in time for the holiday.

Organizers say they are seeking a wide range of supplies, including 8–10 turkeys, 5–8 hams, canned vegetables, yams, potatoes, pasta, and dairy products, along with key pantry items like sugar, flour, cornmeal, and spices. Butter, milk, and cheese donations are also in high demand this year.

According to the Salvation Army, the event feeds dozens of local families each Thanksgiving and relies heavily on community generosity. Residents, churches, and local businesses are encouraged to participate by donating food items or contributing funds to help purchase remaining supplies.

Donations can be dropped off directly at the Kankakee Salvation Army. For more details or to coordinate a delivery, residents can contact the organization through its local office or Facebook page.
