KANKAKEE, Ill. – City Police found themselves grappling with a disconcerting situation on Tuesday, emphasizing the urgent need for mental health awareness.
According to reports, officers responded to a distress call regarding a naked man with a firearm near the intersection of North Fairmont and East Cedar.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers approached with caution, witnessing a man exiting a residence at 500 North Fairmont holding what appeared to be a small gun. However, their focus quickly shifted from potential danger to concern for the individual’s well-being as he tearfully dropped the weapon.
