Kankakee, IL – A high-speed police chase through Kankakee County early Monday ended in a crash and the arrest of a 40-year-old man with multiple felony warrants.
According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle around 3 a.m. near a motel on South Route 45/52, but the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit through Kankakee, Bradley, and Bourbonnais. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle collided with a deputy’s squad car on North Route 45/52, overturned into a ditch, and the driver attempted to flee on foot.
Deputies identified the suspect as Alexander M. Zaragoza of Kankakee, who was wanted on five outstanding warrants. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing, resisting arrest, and aggravated battery to a peace officer. A passenger in the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
