According to city police reports, officers responded to the parking lot of a business located at 1601 River Road after a reported battery incident that began at a nearby gas station on Riverstone Court. The victim told officers that while at the gas station, a person in a dark-colored car threw a slushy at her daughter’s vehicle, leading to a confrontation.
The victim, her daughter, and three individuals from the other vehicle exited their cars and began arguing. One of the individuals from the dark-colored car, later identified by police as 36-year-old Amanda Pavon, allegedly retrieved a hammer from her vehicle and struck the victim in the head.
Pavon was later located by Kankakee police and arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. No further injuries or arrests were reported.
