Kankakee, IL – A protest event is scheduled today at the Kankakee County Courthouse as part of a national wave of “No Kings Day” rallies aimed at opposing former President Donald Trump’s proposed military parade.
According to Indivisible Kankakee, the demonstration is planned for Saturday, June 14, from noon to 2 p.m. at the courthouse. Local organizer Gary Ciaccio confirmed the group’s participation, stating the rally will mirror similar events across the country protesting what organizers call authoritarian-style displays of power.
The Kankakee event will also feature a community service component, including a food drive accepting non-perishable items for local food pantries. Participants are encouraged to bring handmade signs and attend in solidarity for causes such as the protection of Social Security, Medicare, and immigrant rights.
Organizers say the rally emphasizes themes of democracy, due process, and resistance to executive overreach. Attendees may RSVP or seek additional details via the Indivisible Kankakee Facebook page or by emailing the group directly.
The national “No Kings Day” initiative is backed by several advocacy coalitions and will include rallies in numerous cities.
