Kankakee, Illinois Macing Incident: Multiple People Injured at Dollar General Tonight

Kankakee, IL – A significant emergency response was initiated Saturday evening after multiple people were allegedly injured in an attack at a local discount store.

The incident prompted a full EMS Box Alarm, bringing first responders to the Dollar General located at 1700 E. Court Street. Details surrounding the event are still emerging, but initial reports indicate a chemical agent was used. Officials have asked the public to stay clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to work unimpeded.

According to Kankakee Fire Department dispatch information, the call was received at approximately 8:45 p.m. The alert specified a “macing incident” with multiple patients requiring medical attention. The exact number of individuals affected and the severity of their conditions has not been publicly disclosed at this time.

Given the scale of the incident, a mutual aid request was issued to neighboring communities. Emergency medical teams from Bourbonnais, Bradley, Riverside EMS, Aroma Park, and Elite Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene to assist. The circumstances that allegedly led to the attack are currently under investigation by local authorities. No information regarding potential suspects has been released.
