Kankakee, Illinois Hosts Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at Community College

Kankakee, IL – Families and residents are invited to celebrate the Fourth of July in Kankakee with a festive evening of live music and fireworks.

According to the City of Kankakee, the event will take place Friday, July 4, 2025, at Kankakee Community College. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and admission is $20 per carload.

The Independence Day celebration will feature performances from the Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Kankakee Municipal Band, and the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display.

The city is encouraging attendees to bring lawn chairs and patriotic spirit for what organizers say will be a memorable night. The celebration aims to bring together the local community with a blend of music, family-friendly atmosphere, and traditional fireworks.

In a bilingual message on social media, the City of Kankakee extended the invitation to both English and Spanish-speaking residents, highlighting inclusivity and community pride. The city emphasized its goal to make this year’s Independence Day “unforgettable.”

The event will be held at Kankakee Community College, located at 100 College Drive. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and enjoy the full lineup of musical performances before the fireworks begin.
