Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who was recovered from the Kankakee River earlier this summer.

According to a release from Coroner Robert Gessner on Monday, the individual was found in the river on June 13. Authorities have withheld the man’s name until full notification of next-of-kin is completed.

The coroner’s office expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the investigation. Assistance was also credited to the Kankakee Police Department and Premier Family Dental, who contributed to the identification process.

No additional details regarding the circumstances of the man’s death were released. Officials noted that further information will be provided when appropriate.

The recovery marks another case of local authorities working with community resources to resolve missing or unidentified person investigations. The Kankakee River, which runs through the heart of the county, has been the site of several rescue and recovery operations in recent years, often requiring joint efforts between police, medical examiners, and public contributors.

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office continues to lead the case, with updates expected once the family has been formally notified.
