Kankakee, IL – Residents across Kankakee County are waking up to sunny skies and temperatures already running above normal for mid-February.
At 9:01 a.m. Wednesday, temperatures were 30°F in Kankakee, 31°F in Watseka, and 30°F in Peotone under clear skies. Winds are out of the west-northwest at 10 mph, gusting up to 17 mph, with humidity at 72%. No precipitation has been recorded in the past 24 hours, and none is expected through Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will climb to near 44°F — about 10 degrees above the average high of 35°F for February 11. Skies will remain sunny through the afternoon, with west-northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
Clouds are expected to increase this evening as temperatures fall to around 27°F overnight. Winds will ease from the west-northwest at 5 mph before becoming calm late tonight.
Thursday brings partly sunny and mild conditions, with a high near 43°F. Southwest winds around 5 mph will shift east-southeast in the evening as skies clear. Overnight lows will again dip to about 27°F.
