Manteno, IL – All southbound lanes of Interstate 57 near Manteno in Kankakee County are closed today following a reported crash in a construction zone.

According to the Illinois State Police Troop 5, the closure is in place near milepost 321, just south of the Manteno exit. Troopers issued a traffic advisory approximately one hour ago, confirming that the lanes remain shut down due to a crash incident.

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed the situation, stating that the accident occurred in an active construction zone along I-57’s southbound lanes at the 321 Mile Marker. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, citing safety and emergency access concerns.
