Kankakee, IL – A 21-year-old man was shot early Monday morning in Kankakee while visiting a friend.
According to Kankakee city police, officers responded to Riverside Hospital at approximately 12:41 a.m. after the victim arrived with a gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Crestlane Dr., where the victim had been visiting. Detectives identified the alleged suspect as John Thurman, 18, and found him in an apartment on the same block. A firearm was reportedly recovered at the scene, and Thurman was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
The victim is recovering from a non-life-threatening injury.
