Kankakee, IL – A Coal City man was arrested Monday morning after a reported road rage incident in Kankakee led to a crash and DUI investigation, according to the City of Kankakee Police Department.
Police say the incident began around 8:00 a.m. on October 13, 2025, near N Wall Street and Riverside Medical Center, when a caller reported that a man had thrown a rock at another vehicle before fleeing in a white 2011 GMC Yukon.
The Yukon was later seen traveling on S May Avenue, where the driver allegedly ran a stop sign at S May Avenue and W Station Street, striking the side of a Honda Pilot. The Yukon then left the roadway, colliding with a tree and a light pole.
Officers identified the driver as Kodi M. Meyer, 32, of Coal City, who was reportedly uncooperative and yelling at another driver involved. The second driver told police Meyer had tailgated him, thrown a drink, and fled before crashing.
Due to Meyer’s erratic behavior and alleged admission to using cannabis prior to driving, officers transported him to Riverside Medical Center for a DUI evaluation.
Meyer faces charges of Aggravated Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
The Honda Pilot’s driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by Kankakee Fire Department personnel.
