KANKAKEE, IL – A 48-year-old Kankakee man was arrested Wednesday following what police described as a violent road rage incident that left one woman hospitalized and involved multiple vehicles.

According to the Kankakee Police Department, officers responded around November 6, 2025, to the intersection of West Hickory Street and South Wall Street after reports of a traffic altercation. When officers arrived, they learned a driver had allegedly crashed into a business lot on West Station Street before pursuing another vehicle and intentionally striking it multiple times with his truck, forcing it to collide with a third car.

Police said the suspect then became involved in a physical fight with another person at the scene before officers intervened. The female victim sustained visible injuries and was transported by ambulance to Riverside Medical Center for treatment.

After investigation, officers arrested George D. Gaus, 48, of Kankakee, on multiple charges including Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Battery Causing Bodily Harm, Disorderly Conduct, and Reckless Driving. He was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center and remains held pending arraignment.

The case remains under review by the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office.
