Kankakee, IL – The 18th annual Lion Wreathing and City Christmas Tree Lighting will brighten the city Thursday, December 5.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Kankakee Public Library, where two lucky children will join Mayor Curtis to wreath the Library Lions. Afterward, participants will walk to the historic train depot for the city’s official tree lighting.
According to event organizers, this year’s festivities include a visit from Santa and his reindeer. Families can enjoy a New Orleans-style jazz band, a new light show in the park, and treats inside the depot. This beloved holiday tradition offers free admission, making it a perfect outing for all ages.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spots. The walk to the depot will start promptly following the Lion Wreathing ceremony.
