Kankakee, IL – A Kankakee man is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic violence investigation that led to his arrest Friday morning.

According to the Kankakee Police Department, officers responded on September 25 to a report of domestic battery involving a 21-year-old woman. The victim told police that during an argument, 22-year-old Qion J. White allegedly strangled her, threatened her with a firearm, and prevented her from leaving the home while she held her infant child.

Police reported the woman had visible injuries to her neck. She was given protective resources under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and Marsy’s Law.

Detectives later obtained a court-authorized search warrant for White and related firearms. On September 26, officers attempted to serve the warrant at White’s residence in the 1500 block of West Merchant Street. Police say White tried to escape by jumping out a window but was quickly apprehended after re-entering a vehicle. His mother, who arrived on scene, was also transported to the police department for investigative purposes.

White remains in custody as detectives continue investigating. He faces charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful restraint.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
