Kankakee, IL – Families across Kankakee County are invited to shop local and give back this Sunday as the Comfort & Joy Market returns to the Kankakee Area YMCA with a full day of holiday shopping, food, and community activities.
According to the Kankakee Area YMCA, the event runs Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the YMCA gymnasium and is free and open to the public. The market combines a holiday vendor fair with a community-wide food and toy drive supporting the Momence Food Pantry.
The Comfort & Joy Market will feature more than 30 local vendors, offering handmade gifts, seasonal items, and unique holiday finds. Food trucks will be set up in the parking lot throughout the day, while kids can enjoy face painting and special visits from Santa and the Grinch.
A raffle will also be held, with prizes available throughout the event. Raffle tickets can be earned through donations or purchased on site. Attendees receive two tickets for every five non-perishable food items donated or two tickets for each new, unwrapped toy. Tickets may also be purchased for $1 each or six for $5.
All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will be donated directly to the Momence Food Pantry, organizers said.
Visitors are also encouraged to stop by the YMCA table to participate in the Meal in a Bag Donation Drive, further supporting local families in need during the holiday season.
The Comfort & Joy Market is hosted by Kimberly’s Garden Harvest in partnership with the Momence Farmers Market & Food Pantry, and the Kankakee Area YMCA, located at 1075 N. Kennedy Drive in Kankakee.
Residents from Kankakee County and the surrounding south suburban Chicago region are encouraged to attend.
