Kankakee County Offers Fresh Start: Free Legal Aid for Expungement, Sealing Records on May 28

Hopkins Park, IL – Residents in Kankakee County have the opportunity to seek a new beginning with Project: Fresh Start. The Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s office is offering a free expungement and sealing program aimed at providing restorative justice and on-site employment opportunities.

According to Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe, the next clinic is scheduled for May 28, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the State’s Attorney’s Pembroke Satellite Site, located behind Lorenzo R. Smith School. Individuals interested in participating must register by May 1, 2024, and meet certain eligibility criteria, including the completion of their last sentence at least three years prior, with no open or pending cases. Convictions for DUI, sex crimes, traffic, domestic violence, or animal abuse are not eligible for relief. Space is limited, and registration can be completed at www.k3sao.com/expunge.
