Manteno, Illinois – Police are asking for public help locating a man who walked away from a crashed vehicle early Friday, raising concerns about possible injuries.
According to the Manteno Police Department, Jarrod Nicholson, 35, was last seen shortly after a single-vehicle crash near Route 50 at approximately 1:40 a.m. Friday. Investigators say Nicholson left the crashed vehicle on foot and may be injured.
Police reported Nicholson was seen walking north from the crash site. He was last known to be wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans at the time he disappeared.
Authorities have not released details about what caused the crash or the exact location along Route 50, but the incident occurred during overnight hours when traffic visibility is reduced. Officers say efforts to locate Nicholson began shortly after the crash was reported.
The police department emphasized that Nicholson’s well-being is the primary concern, noting that leaving a crash scene on foot can pose serious risks, especially if injuries are involved or if the person becomes disoriented.
Anyone who may have seen Nicholson walking along Route 50 or nearby roads early Friday, or who may have had contact with him since the crash, is urged to contact authorities immediately.
Manteno police ask anyone with information to call the Manteno Police Department at 815-933-3324 to reach dispatch, or call 911 if Nicholson is seen.
Route 50 is a commonly traveled corridor for early-morning commuters in Kankakee County, and police say even small observations could help locate Nicholson.
