Kankakee County, IL – A fatal motorcycle crash involving three vehicles on East State Highway 1-17 in Momence claimed the life of a local motorcyclist on Sunday evening, March 3, 2024. The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Evan T. Wood of Momence.
The accident occurred at 6:45 PM when Wood, riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, reportedly crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford Focus. Two Harley Davidson motorcycles and the Ford Focus were involved in the crash, leading to Wood’s immediate fatality at the scene. The other individuals involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
An autopsy for Wood is scheduled for March 4, 2024, as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash. Illinois State Police Troop 5, in collaboration with the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office, is examining the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
