Manteno, IL — A serious crash sent a vehicle into a creek late Thursday at East County Line Road and North 8000 East Road. First responders from the Manteno Fire Protection District reported the driver was trapped inside, heavily pinned, as the vehicle settled in a difficult-to-reach area.
According to initial reports, the crash occurred around 10:10 p.m., prompting the immediate response of emergency crews. Manteno personnel faced significant access challenges as they worked to free the trapped individual. Due to the severity of the situation, Lifestar, a medical helicopter, was requested to assist in extracting and transporting the victim.
Grant Park Fire Protection District also joined the scene to provide additional support. Rescue efforts continued into the night, as crews battled both the terrain and the condition of the wrecked vehicle to reach the pinned driver.
Further updates on the driver’s condition and the cause of the crash were not immediately available. Local authorities are continuing their investigation.
