CHICAGO – Snow is blanketing much of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana this evening, creating slick roads and dangerous driving conditions that will persist until midnight Monday in Illinois and 3 a.m. CST (4 a.m. EST) Tuesday in Indiana. Snowfall totals between 1 and 4 inches are expected, with the heaviest bands south of the Kankakee River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, LaSalle, Kankakee, and surrounding counties in Illinois, as well as Lake, Porter, Jasper, Newton, and Benton counties in Indiana. Light to moderate snow will continue through late evening before tapering overnight.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reports widespread slippery conditions on interstates I-55, I-57, and I-80, while visibility briefly drops below one mile during heavier bursts. The Indiana Department of Transportation is also warning of snow-covered stretches on I-65 and U.S. 30.

Road crews are treating major routes, but blowing snow and falling temperatures will maintain slick spots through early Tuesday morning, especially in northwest Indiana.
