Kane County Incident: Man Leaps from Bridge onto I-88, Seriously Injured

Aurora, IL – A man was seriously injured Wednesday after jumping from the Farnsworth Avenue bridge onto Interstate 88, authorities reported.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 1:47 p.m. The individual jumped into oncoming eastbound traffic near mile marker 119. No vehicles struck the person, who remained in the lanes of traffic.

The Aurora Fire Department transported the individual to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The extent of the injuries remains unknown.

Witnesses confirmed the act was intentional. I-88 has since reopened. The Sheriff’s Office will not release further information pending notification of next of kin.
