St. Charles, IL – An Aurora man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a minor he solicited on Snapchat, according to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser.
Prosecutors said Adolfo Garcia, already a registered sex offender, used Snapchat between January 1 and October 31, 2024, to contact a 16-year-old victim. According to Assistant State’s Attorney Morgan Wilkinson, Garcia met the teen in person, provided her with alcohol and marijuana, and then sexually assaulted her while she was unable to give consent.
Garcia had previously pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse in 2020 and was on sex offender probation at the time of this new offense. Judge Julia Yetter accepted Garcia’s guilty plea to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault in exchange for the prison term.
Authorities noted Garcia must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence and will be required to register as a sexual offender for life under the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
Investigators believe Garcia may have solicited additional victims through social media. Anyone with information is urged to contact Investigator Tom Ruzevich at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.
“This defendant was a registered sex offender prior to this case who, despite being on probation, continued to prey on minors,” ASA Wilkinson said, crediting the victim’s courage in coming forward.
