St. Charles, IL – A South Elgin man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to a child pornography charge, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Victor D. Perez received the prison term in exchange for his guilty plea to one count of child pornography, a Class X felony. The sentence was accepted Thursday by Judge David Kliment in Kane County court.

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers, investigators with the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at Perez’s home on May 16, 2024, uncovering a phone that contained a large amount of child sexual abuse material. Further investigation revealed that Perez had allegedly shared some of the material through Snapchat.

Under Illinois law, Perez is eligible for day-for-day credit and will receive credit for 509 days already served in the Kane County jail.

State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser thanked investigators for their work, stating that every such offense “harms a child” and emphasizing the ongoing commitment to holding offenders accountable. Assistant State’s Attorney Hillary Sadler was also recognized for ensuring Perez remained in custody throughout the case.
