St. Charles, IL – Kane County law enforcement’s “No Refusal” initiative over the Fourth of July weekend resulted in three DUI-related arrests and one search warrant, according to officials.

According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the operation took place from 10 p.m. on July 4 to 2 a.m. on July 5, 2025, with participation from 14 police departments across the county. Officers targeted suspected intoxicated drivers who refused chemical testing, securing expedited warrants when needed.

Under Illinois law, drivers cannot lawfully refuse testing if probable cause exists to believe they are impaired while operating a motor vehicle.

During the two-hour operation, authorities arrested a male resident from Aurora, a male resident from Sycamore, and a female resident from Pingree Grove on DUI-related charges. One motorist initially refused testing and was subjected to a court-authorized search warrant.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser called the results a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving.

“It is deeply concerning that some individuals still choose to put lives at risk by driving under the influence,” Mosser said. “Every impaired driving incident is preventable, and we remain committed to deterring this dangerous behavior.”

Mosser also credited DUI Unit Supervisors, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, and on-call phlebotomists for their role in executing the initiative.

Court appearances for the defendants are scheduled between July 30 and August 8 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

The charges against these individuals are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
