Saint Albans, WV – A Charleston man has been arrested in connection with two separate overnight break-ins at the same convenience store in Saint Albans, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said David Douglas Steadman, 53, has been charged with Grand Larceny and Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling after investigators linked him to thefts occurring months apart at the ParMar store located at 459 MacCorkle Avenue.
According to sheriff’s officials, the first incident happened around 3 a.m. on September 22, 2025, when deputies responded to an alarm and found the store’s front door destroyed. Surveillance video showed a single suspect taking less than $1,000 worth of cigarettes before fleeing.
Roughly three months later, on December 26, 2025, deputies were called again to the same location for another alarm. Authorities said the front door had once again been forced open, and this time two suspects entered the business, stealing over $1,000 worth of cigarettes, vapes, and vape accessories.
Detective Boner later identified Steadman as a suspect after reviewing surveillance footage from both incidents. Deputies said Steadman was interviewed and confessed to participating in the burglaries.
He is currently being held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond, with a 10% cash option.
Authorities remind the public that anyone arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
